Supermarkets have a number of situations that compromise the quality of the food that is sold there and the quality of the air in these stores.
- There is a constant inflow of bacteria from customer traffic. Customers pick up fruits and vegetables and have germs all over their hands- this can spread disease and contaminate the produce.
- The meat and fish and deli area is a breeding ground for bacteria. Listeria is the most deadly and can form around the meat slicers and other hard to clean surface areas of this section of the supermarket
- The florescent lights that run the full length of the store deplete oxygen. This weakens the resistance of the store environment to oxidize bacteria and also is an energy drain for customers and employee alike.
- There are many chemicals on the shelves and many conflicting odors that create a toxic atmosphere
Lab Test proving Active Oxygen kills Listeria- Listeria is a major problem in hard to reach area of meat slicers and other surface areas in meat departments
Superior Labs, Columbus OH- Listeria Monocytogenes Testing:
Don McHugh, Analyst
"Hotdog testing was conducted with a 73% solution and added to 225ml Phosphate Buffered Water solution per bagged hotdog.
Active oxygen exposure time of 10 seconds, 30 seconds and 60 seconds was utilized in a glove box using a 6 level [Active Oxygen] unit. An Ecosensor was placed in the glove box- the readings were approximately 16 PPM".
- After 10 seconds Listeria count decreased 74%
- After 30 seconds Listeria count was reduced by 96%
- After 60 seconds Listeria count was reduced by 98%
Testimonials
"We used the active oxygen unit in our cooler with a fresh rack of strawberries. Much to our delight the strawberries lasted over two weeks without any mold, mildew or discoloration. (normally mold starts in a couple of days) We were so impressed we decided to buy six for our large cooler".

"We tested your active oxygen air purifier model KS and have observed that the unit prevents the formation of mold on fresh strawberries kept under ordinary household refrigeration. Berries kept without the unit in the refrigerator molded in three to four days to the point of 70% destruction.
Berries kept well for 14 days when the unit was placed in the refrigerator, no mold formed. We feel that the unit may have other applications in the biology lab and we will continue to investigate its further usefulness".

Produce Business
"During our many years of experience in the produce business, we have found that we could keep strawberries for only two or three day without deterioration. After installation of your unit, we kept a crate of strawberries for 13 day in our cooler. We had planned to leave them in the cooler to see just how long your unit would keep them, but our supply ran low and we had to use them. The berries were still in very good condition at the time they were sold".
We compliment you on a job well done with your unit".

"Connellsville Foodland: Laboratory test made in walk-in cooler before and after active oxygen generator was used.
Air test-Petrie Plates only done on the Grinder, Shelpower Grinder, Stops at Breaker, Product Shelf, Chicken Trough and Lunch Meat Shelf showed that mold was reduced an average of 98% .
In Swab Tests on the Grinder, Shelf over the Grinder, Cooler Door, Chicken Trough, Cooler Wall, Rail Hook and Grinder Stomper, mold was reduced an average of 97.5%
The MT. Pleasant Foodland ran the same Air Test with Petrie Plates and found similar results, i.e. mold was reduced around 99%".
